Who Was That?
I’ve worked in the customer service field for a long time. After speaking with a regular customer only a couple of times, I rarely have to introduce myself. When I do, the large majority of them will say something like, “I know it’s you Robin” or they will say, “Oh, hi Robin” before I ever get the chance to tell them it is me.
One customer even told me
they would recognize me anywhere. I
guess I have an easily recognizable voice. I know the Southern drawl is
there. I do not even try to deny
that. LOL.
It goes the other way
too. I have a few customers whose voice
I recognize very easily. Others have to
tell me who they are. It is all part of
it when a large part of your work is conducted over the telephone.
In our spiritual life,
there is only one voice we should hear.
That is the Good Shepherd’s voice – Jesus Christ, our Savior. The concept is beautifully described by Jesus
Himself in John chapter 10:3-5 “To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his
own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out
all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they
will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
I find this such a beautiful and comforting
passage. Notice in this passage the Good
Shepherd calls all his own sheep by name.
Jesus knows our name. He is the
Son of God, so He knows us all.
But do we allow Him to lead us out? Do we hear his voice and follow Him? Do we flee
from the stranger – or are we led away from the Shepherd? If we know his voice, we do not allow
ourselves to be pulled away by a stranger.
Whose voice do we know? Hopefully, we know only the Good Shepherd’s
voice. Hopefully, we follow only
Him. We should never follow after man. It should always be Christ. His is the voice we need to hear. Flee from the stranger. He (the stranger) will do everything he can
to fool us and get us to follow him instead of Jesus.
In verses 17 and 18 Jesus says as the Good Shepherd
He lays down His life for the sheep. He
makes it clear that no one takes His life from Him. No man has that power. Instead, Jesus laid down His life
willingly. He is the One who has
authority over His life – not man.
The other interesting thing about these verses is
that Jesus says He will lay down His life and take it up again. Man does not take the life of Christ. He gives it…. Willingly. Then our precious Savior delivers a major
blow against that old devil because He conquers death and takes up His life
again! How marvelous is that? Jesus rose from the grave!!
The question is do we know Who He is? Do we hear His voice and follow Him? No one makes that choice for us. We decide.
I hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday.

Can You Fix It?

Hey Watch This!
Hey Watch This!
Counselors of younger campers will often hear this during swim time. They love to show off their skills at the
pool. We hear “Hey, watch this” or
“Watch me” several times in that hour!
One day at the pool I watched kids go down the slide, turn flips
under water, and jump in from the side.
My eyes were challenged when one of my campers and a young “pre-camper”
who came to the pool with his grandmother asked me to watch them at the same
time.
I did the best I could and managed to be watching at those critical
moments when they looked at me for their encouragement. I was happy to give it to both children. But it was the little boy who seemed to
thrive on the cheers and thumbs up he received.
The funny thing to me was that I didn’t even know the little boy that
well. I am always happy to encourage a child. They love to be noticed and encouraged –
bragged on even. It is totally natural
and there is nothing wrong with it at all.
For adults to recognize their accomplishments is a big deal.
What joy we create in a young child’s heart when we give them love and attention! But this is true of adults too. We need to be recognized and valued – appreciated for what we do. I’ve written about this topic before, but I strongly believe in the ministry of encouragement. Each of us have an amazing potential to do good in this world!
Encouragement saves souls. I say
this for two reasons. The first reason
is because the Bible tells us this. Parakaleo
is the Greek word for encouragement.
Part of the definition for this word also includes to exhort- comfort-
strengthen – teach or instruct.
Acts 14:22 is an excellent example- “strengthening
the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the
faith, and saying, ‘It is through many tribulations that we
must enter the kingdom of God.”
The second reason I say encouragement
saves souls is because I was the recipient of encouragement which brought me
back to God. I believe many souls either
kept the faith or come back to the faith because they were encouraged to do
so. It shows we love the souls for
others.
God loves us so much; but sometimes we
need one of God’s people to remind us of this.
We need encouragement occasionally.
Like the little boy in the pool who said “Hey, watch this!” we all need
to be seen. When someone cheers for us,
we are strengthened. We are lifted up
and we get the feeling we really can run this Christian race.
Let’s encourage one another to keep on
going. We can all get to heaven
together!

The Best News!!
Good morning! I pray everyone is well. What a joy it is to be able to worship our amazing God today!
We all know the best news
in the world is the gospel news. It is
the news that Christ came to earth – that God gave His Only Son – to die on the
cross and conquer sin and death for us – for me and you – and every soul who
has ever lived – rose from death and is now reigning in heaven!!
Christ, the Son of God,
lives. We can come to Him freely – obey His
will and have the hope of heaven!! It is
our choice. It is always our choice.
The best news out of
Maywood Christian Camp during the week of 6/20 through 6/26 is that five precious
souls realized the value Jesus placed on their souls by dying for them. They came openly and willingly to be baptized
for the remission of their sins. Angels
in heaven rejoiced five times this week – over souls saved at Maywood Christian
Camp.
It is my prayer the
angels rejoiced over many other souls in many other places over the world. The gospel is the best news and souls are the
most priceless of all on this planet!
I am so thankful for the God’s
word – so thankful we can read and learn about the love of Jesus and His
sacrifice. I am so sad for those who
chose not to believe in the love of God.
They do not know the joy, peace, and comfort Christians have through
Him.
Life is not easy by any
means. Sometimes it is made even more
difficult because we choose to claim Christ as our Savior – to walk in The
Way. We are tempted, tried, teased, and
troubled because we do. Sometimes we are
punished, persecuted, and humiliated because we cherish our God. In the United States it is not as bad as in many
other countries; still, we suffer hardships for Jesus.
Even so – EVEN SO – we know
what comes next. A Christian life is
always the best life to live. We know it
is worth it because after this life, heaven awaits the faithful Christian! The joy we have in Jesus and the peace and comfort
we have in God always sustains us – always anchors us in our hope – our confident
steadfast hope of incredible eternal joy!
God
loves us – Jesus died for us – and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us!
This
is the best news! Hang on to it – don’t
let it go; but share it! Share the best
news on earth!

Order Acknowledgements
Good morning! In case no one has told you lately – you are
amazing! You have the opportunity to be kind and loving today. You
have the potential to be a wonderful Christian example and delight to all those around you.
Remember that as you go about your today. I wanted to remind you how much you
matter. All of us matter. God says all of us are important!
Order Acknowledgements
Many of you know I work in customer service. When our customers send in orders, they like
to know we have received them. A company
wouldn’t be ordering a product unless they needed it. It is important that their order is processed.
Customers will also ask for a copy of an acknowledgement or
confirmation. Now most of know what that
is. When we place an order online – usually
one is emailed to us. The forms show the
items ordered by the customer. The quantity
and cost of each item.
The acknowledgement shows the company name of the buyer and the
company name of the seller. They also
include the delivery address and any special instructions. Our customer’s will often call and ask for a
copy of the acknowledgement if they didn’t receive it automatically after the
order is processed.
It is good for both the buyer and the seller when the buyer gets the
confirmation of the order. It is a check
point for everyone. The customer has a
chance to review the order for accuracy.
Then they can contact the seller in case something is wrong with the
order.
Sometimes people need acknowledgement too. Actually, we all do. I think it is a basic human need to want to be
noticed and appreciated. To know we are
of some value to someone else. To know
that we matter.
Perhaps we’ve felt that way ourselves. Sometimes we can be in a room full of people
and still feel totally alone. We know
the relief we feel when someone comes along and speaks to us. Maybe a co-worker thanks you for help her
make that deadline with her report. Maybe
someone takes the time to sit down and talks to us.
Jesus sought out the lonely.
He had compassion for them. He
helped the brokenhearted widow whose son had died. He acknowledged her sorrow. He valued her and her son.
Jesus may have known she had no one else to care for her. He told her “Do not weep.” Jesus went to the
bier and said, “Young man, I say to you arise.”
The son was returned to his mother.
(Luke 7:11-17)
Jesus acknowledged the lepers.
He healed the blind and the lame.
He loved the poor and the outcast.
He had compassion on the multitude and fed them.
There is something we can do for the lonely and left out today. We can acknowledge them. We can affirm their worth. We can encourage and comfort them. We re-establish our own worth when we give
worth to others - when we are merciful, and kind and gentle.
“ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of
these my brothers, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:40
